Practice field fire sprinkler design
This certificate program is comprised of four (4) courses, each with a specific focus in an area of Fire Protection Engineering. The courses consist of both theoretical and practical skills that complement each other while enhancing the fire protection knowledge of the participants. Completion of this certificate will also provide the needed fire protection skills to professionals and engineering graduates who are looking to fill any gaps. Students will apply their foundational knowledge in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Structural, Architectural or Physical) to develop the analytical skills required to comprehend and implement the Fire Protection Engineering principles necessary to protect society from fire disasters. The Fire Protection Engineering Specialized certificate is intended to provide engineers the base line education and knowledge required for entry into the field of Fire Protection Engineering. The field of fire protection covers a gamut of areas including water-based suppression systems, waterless suppression systems, detection or fire alarm systems, smoke control systems, fire-rated construction, building codes and regulations, human reaction towards fire, means of egress, risk and hazard analysis, and fire growth and development. Through education and experience, Fire Protection Engineers (FPE), develop fire science skills necessary for protecting society from fire and its effects.
